How to use Bentonite Clay?

Bentonite Clay

Bentonite Clay is a versatile cosmetic ingredient that absorbs oil and impurities from the skin, making it ideal for oily and acne-prone skin.

Bentonite clay has proved to be an age-old solution to a plethora of skin and hair care problems. It’s derived from volcanic ashes which is why it’s packed with minerals like magnesium, sodium, calcium, and iron. It is a potent cleanser and has anti-bacterial as well as anti-inflammatory properties that help you effectively get rid of acne, infected scalp, and unclog pores. It works exceptionally well for people who suffer from excessive production of sebum and oily skin/scalp, as bentonite clay is mostly made up of negative ions that draw out the toxins from your body that are made up of positive ions.

You can use it to detoxify your skin and improve its overall health. The long build-up of toxins and bad bacteria in your skin or the scalp can cause irritation, breakouts, excessive dryness/oiliness, infections, etc. This clay efficiently absorbs toxins, dirt, and excess sebum and deep clean your skin and scalp to make them cleaner, smoother, and healthier.

Based on the composition of the key minerals, there are two types of bentonite clay—Sodium bentonite clay and Calcium bentonite clay. Where sodium bentonite clay works better on your scalp and for hair care, calcium bentonite clay works wonders on your skin. Even though both these kinds are competent and provide great benefits to skin and hair alike, many people have noticed how sodium bentonite clay can make your scalp visibly cleaner and your hair smoother with one use whereas calcium bentonite clay absorbs excess oil from your skin and clears acne and clogged pores better. However both these types of bentonite clay will treat your hair and skin problems deftly, the only salient difference is the duration that these distinct clay types might take to cure a certain problematic area.

Here is a list of 4 different ways to use bentonite clay but make sure you make the following remedies in a glass or a ceramic bowl as the surface of any metal container may react with the active minerals present in bentonite clay.

Patch test is recommended before trying a new product. Some people may be allergic to natural products.
